APLM is organising the 3rd edition of the Portuguese Conference on Marine Litter and Microplastics this year.​

This conference brings together stakeholders from across different sectors of society in an integrative approach, featuring discussion panels on policies, impacts, and solutions to this global issue. While addressing scientific and technical aspects, the conference is primarily aimed at
engaging society at large.

The Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Centro Ciência Viva
is located in Parque das Nações, Lisbon.

Conference Format
The conference will follow a panel discussion format, with very short presentations by each panelist, based on their area of expertise. These will be followed by active moderation,  including questions from the moderator and the audience.
In addition to the panels listed in the programme:
  • The afternoon of September 21 will feature activities and demonstrations that promote ocean literacy, and we will also celebrate 10 years of APLM’s work For a Litter-Free Ocean.
  • On the afternoon of September 22, there will be a sustainable fashion show hosted by the Etikway platform.

 

A Call to Students
We invite students conducting research on marine litter and microplastics to present their work in poster format (A0 vertical), to be displayed in the main hall. Please note that space is very limited —  register early to secure your spot!
